 | Not Saving the World. This pip came from an article by Holly Lisle in which she expressed an opposition to novels that attempt to save the world, not the fictional one, but the real one. While I have no problem with thought-provoking fiction, to think a book can make the world a better place is shortsighted for two reasons. 1) The author assumes ownership of THE answer. 2) The author forgets the reader brings 50% to the table so what the reader walks away with may be different than what the author intended. |
