I'm having a hard time finding a home for one of my stories. It was originally to be published in the now-cancelled A Glitch in the Continuum anthology.
The reason is that (I'm guessing) it's "cross genre". In summary, it's about a guy who learns that his family's murder has been sent to the future (and to a remote location in the woods) by a mysterious man who claims to be from a grief counseling agency. In the end, the MC is caught with the man's remains in his jeep at the murder site (10 years later). His psychiatrist and lawyer point out flaws in his story about the time machine, but he has logical explanations for everything.
I know that may not say much if you haven't read it, but my issue is classifying it in order to find a suitable home. I don't want to waste time submitting to SF mags if they don't want a story that washes away the SF by saying it was all in the guy's mind.
I guess I'd liken it to a Twilight Zone episode. Coach's Midnight Diner seems like a place for such things (and it does have a diner scene in the story along with religious references - the title A Time to Heal aka A Time for Everything).
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
