As those in chat last night know, June (junedrexler) was admitted into the hospital last night in serious but stable condition.

After a week of shortness of breath, she finally went to the doctor yesterday. Blood tests showed that she's severely anemic, her blood pressure was in the stroke zone, and that her kidneys have pretty much shut down.

After a night of meds and tests, they now have her blood pressure under control, but the cause of the other problems are still unknown. She's already had tons of tests done with more scheduled for today and Monday.

I'm starting this thread so the most people can be informed (as I have information) and I can easily print out the best wishes and take them in for her.

I have to go to work soon, so I won't have news again until tomorrow.

All prayers and good wishes are muchly appreciated.

Just talked to June and got the latest.

The damage to her kidneys appears to be chronic, not acute, which means they're not likely going to get better and certainly not going to "bounce back" to close to normal.

She'll be starting dialysis this week and going on the donor wait list.

They're still trying to figure out WHY this all happened fairly suddenly and making certain that it isn't yet another symptom to something else.

Her spirits are still remarkably high (knowledge does this to her) and she actually enthusiastic about getting things going.

Still no idea when she'll be coming home, but things are looking strangely brighter now.

I'm glad to hear there's a plan of action. Hope they figure out the WHY soon. Still keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers.

It sucks that it's chronic, but at least they know, and hopefully will be able to figure out WHAT is causing it and treat it.

Having chronic conditions of my own, I understand why she's feeling better. Just knowing helps a lot, rather than wondering. Even if it's news that sucks.

June's been through two stints of dialysis now.

During the first one, her heartbeat when a bit wild even though she said she didn't feel anything odd. She was transferred to a cardiac unit so she could be monitored.

There were more cardiac tests today, but I haven't heard any results. Given her condition when she was admitted, there's a high risk of a heart attack or stroke, so they're being cautious.

I heard no report of anything bad happening with the second stint (her mom was with her, I wasn't), but they haven't transported her back to the renal unit yet.

Despite all this, she's not getting out of breath as quickly as she did last week. Her spirits remain high, though she's (both of us really) are getting hit with the massive impact this is going to have on our lives and all the changes we're facing.

Earliest possibility of her coming home will be Saturday (of course, the only day I'm working late), but there's still some doubt about that.

She appreciates all the good wishes and promises she'll pop on when she get home.

June was released from the hospital this afternoon. She's still on oxygen, but she's staying with her sister until after the weekend.

She's staying there because this is my first day off work and my first chance to get the house in shape for her homecoming. That and we figured I could take the dogs over to a neutral place to get some of their excitement over with in controlled doses before she actually walks in the door.

I'm sure she'll be on somewhen soon. She said she wanted to look in on the thread when she had the chance.

Not to hijack Andi's thread, but I talked to June this morning, and she sounds in great spirits. Who can blame her, since she's getting real food and real rest?

She's planning to be home on Tuesday. She said thanks for all the good wishes and she'll check in here when she can.

Wow, reading this I feel really loved. Amazing stuff.

I'm pretty close to 'back to normal' feeling, just getting used to the new routines of dialysis and such. I'll probably be doing that for the rest of my life, but hey 'writing time' right?
