Who We Are and What We Do

We're a group of often insanely dedicated writers who challenge each other to write better, to reach higher, to never give up on our dreams. One of the community's motto is Write here -- write now, which defines us well; the writers in the community talk about writing, but more importantly, we write. If you want to write, you'll find a tremendous amount of support. If you love to read, you'll find a whole horde of people who can carry on intelligent conversations about nearly any subject. If you need to research a book, someone in the community can usually round up answers on just about any imaginable subject.

We're a diverse group with members from around the world, so you'll find people around at the most ungodly hours, no matter how you define ungodly hours. No matter where we live in the physical world, here we're joined by a passionate love of the written word.

If you share that passion, join us. You'll find an army of kindred spirits inside.

The rules

The short version of the rules is as follows:

• Treat others the way you would wish to be treated.
  

• Discuss issues, but do not point fingers. "That is a stupid idea," is an acceptable post, though perhaps not a particularly well-thought-out one. "You are a stupid person," will result in a moderator removing your post without warning. People who use name-calling, harassment, or abusive language toward other members will be removed from the community.
  

• Do not leap into the flames. If you see an inappropriate post, IGNORE IT. Let a moderator know it's there and one of us will remove it. Do not respond to it -- the only effect that will have is that your post, too, no matter how erudite and well-thought-out, will vanish with it.
  

• If you wish to discuss in a reasoned manner something that is going down in flames elsewhere, do so in a separate post with a similar title. That way people will be able to find your post, but it won't be deleted or get you into trouble in the community.
  

Remember that things you say in the heat of the moment will remain on the boards for everyone else to read long after you've had a chance to cool down.

The Boards

The community is significantly larger than it will appear when you first enter. You will not see most of the boards when you first enter the community. You will only find them if you decide to join. In order to see new boards, you must create a membership and be logged in.

Public Forum	Anyone may read and post to unmarked boards.
Protected Forum	Anyone may read, but you must be a member to post
Restricted Forum	You must be a member to read or post
Private Forum	Private board -- you must apply for special membership. (The private boards are not listed here.)

What does it cost to join?

Forward Motion and everything on the site is free.
