Thread or Post: Print a Thread in Printer-Friendly FormatPrinting straight from the community can sometimes be a challenge as the formatting and graphics aren't as happily accepted by the printer as they are by the monitor. The more graphics a printer has to process, the slower the printing process will be. To have all the text from a thread fit into your printer's print area and speed up the process, you may choose to have a thread converted to printer-friendly format. Above the light blue breadcrumb navigation bar of a thread are four links with symbols beside them. Printer-friendly copy appears second among these links with a small printer icon to the left of it with paper waving out of the top. To have the thread converted to printer-friendly format, click on the Printer-friendly copy link or icon.
A new screen should load in printer-friendly format. While in printer-friendly format, you will notice a Go back to previous page link on a gray bar. Each thread appears in plain black text against a white background surrounded by a gray box. Subsequent threads are separated by horizontal rules (lines). The printer-friendly format preserves font colors and images used in posts and signatures. Avatars do not appear as part of this format. Notice ALL threads and their replies appear in the printer-friendly format (see below for printer preview suggestions).
When you are ready to print, click on Print from your browser window. If you do not want to print out an entire thread and all the replies to it (some threads and all their replies end up being voluminous and will print many more pages than you thought or might have wanted), consider doing a Print Preview in your browser if possible to isolate the pages from the thread you'd like to print. by Marco Castro
