Conference System: Chat Rules

Your own your own words. That means that you and you alone are responsible for the content of your posts and any consequences of those posts. With that in mind:

• Treat others the way you would wish to be treated.
   
• Discuss issues, but do not point fingers. "That is a stupid idea," is an acceptable comment, though perhaps not a particularly well-thought-out one. "You are a stupid person," will result in a moderator removing kicking you from the chat room. People who use name-calling, harassment, or abusive language toward other members will be banned from chat or removed from the community at our discretion.
   
• Do not leap into the flames. If someone in the chat room is acting inappropriately, send a private message to any of the moderators in the room on the site. Copy the contents of the chat (Right-click, Select All, and post into your e-mail program or text program) and send to a moderator.
  
  DO NOT RESPOND TO THE TROUBLEMAKER. You can selectively Ignore users, which makes them and their posts disappear for you I strongly recommend this option. If you allow yourself to be drawn into the flames, you'll end up being kicked or banned too. Remember, you own your own words.
   
• Due to problems we have had with the following issues, we have specific rules.  Please read the TOS/AUP

Legal Issues Broadly, don't do anything illegal in here or your membership will be revoked. More specifically:

• Respect people. Don't harass, stalk or verbally abuse anyone.
   
• Don't post inappropriate material to minors.
   
• Respect copyrights. Don't post anything for which you don't own copyright (and this includes graphics!) and don't copy anything for which you don't own copyright.
   
• Respect the law. Do not attempt to use these conference rooms for the illegal sale or purchase of any form of contraband, or for any other illegal activity.

Membership is a privilege and not a right. Memberships can be revoked for unacceptable behavior in the conference and chat rooms. You can be warned, or banned temporarily or permanently; I hate this option, and I hate being placed in a position of being the heavy, but I will remove people who ruin others' enjoyment of the place.
