I'm not exactly new, but not exactly "seasoned" either. I joined last year on the old forum, but wasn't always a regular - I came and went quite a few times.

But, new-start now, considering I'm starting on a new novel that I'm really hoping to finish and get published, I'm also looking into doing a few study courses starting next month. Writing ones, of course. I'm in the southern hemisphere, so schools start in Jan/Feb and go until December. I'm looking at a 4-year Professional Writing course which offers a Diploma of Arts. My mother is finishing her 4th year of it this year, and gets her diploma at the end of the year. A short course in Fantasy Writing, and another in Creative Writing just to make sure I can get all I need crammed up in my brain tightly.

At the moment, my new novel is a fantasy. But I've also dabbled in romance, psychological drama (focused on abuse and psychotherapy) and at one point, I hope to finish my own biography.

So, yup. That's the short version. I've been writing since I very young, I wrote my first short-story when I was 7, and still can recite every word by heart. I've loved books since a young age, films, television, theatre and music. I'm an entertainment fanatic I guess you could say. I adore the arts, and I'm quite a nerd, as I also collect, study and drool over comic books - but that's probably not my only "nerdish" quality. I'd say it runs in my family but well...I'm adopted so I guess it was just an environmental influence as both my parents are avid readers, writers and lovers of the arts, and I have a cousin who is also a writer and self-publishes.

If you were to have told me 4 years ago I'd be wanting to get a book published now, I'd scoff at you, shake my head with a large resounding "no", and passionately exclaim the lack of desire to turn my beloved hobby and passion into an element of "chore". But, here I am...and I'm finally ready to accept that at least I can *try* to put something out into the world. I won't be the next Terry Pratchett, Tolkien or Hemmingway - but I'll achieve something that my younger self would be most proud of.
